Today I experienced the most challenging bike ride of my life. A 6 mile ride from my home in South minneapolis to target field. My adventure started 15 minutes earlier then normal, at 515, compensation for the weather. The roads were dangerous! Never have I experienced worse conditions. Every bike path, bike lanes and road was 10 times more hazardous then any biking I have ever done! I have to stress that I am new to minneapolis moving here from my home town of buffalo. I have also realized that my perception of what properly plowed roads are. I understand that there are different challenges in minneapolis, but come on! If minneapolis wanted to improve their friendliness to its bike commuters in the winter, it's needs to focus on clearing its bike lanes. Which are a great community investment that is rendered to being worthless without proper snow removal. Note: for all of those who work hard at keeping our cities bike paths in proper maintenance, thank you. Also, tell your boss you want to put in some extra hours when it snows.
